I would like to see apps in regards to opposites...my son with autism is struggling with them!
I am just learning about all the apps out there for my kids. I love apps that help kids learn facts but still let them have fun. I would like an app that helps kids learn to sue capital letters and punctuation in a fun way.
love the math apps, would like some sentence structure apps
I would like to see some apps geared for older children/young adults who have special learning challenges. I would like some good high interest, low readability stories that have options to be read to or read independently. I'd like the books to have a highlights as it reads feature and hot links that can be clicked on to have words defined.
I would love an app that had a fun way to teach my daughter to match a word to the picture that matched it. Her vocabulary is very low (she's non verbal, but her receptive language is low) and she knows the names of all the letters very well, so trying to teach her the link that words mean something. She has autism. Thank you!
As a Special Education teacher for K-2nd grade EB/D, ASD and SL/D students, I would like an app that helps students with number sense. Number sense is a basic skill which is the foundation for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. There are few number sense apps that would include numbers higher than 25. My 1st grade students love Subtracting Sardines and they are finally realizing that if they get red fish, they have not started with the biggest number :) That is where number sense comes in.
Another idea would be to have reading books available as leveled books (A-Z). In our state with more emphasis on RtI and leveled reading, it is hard to find those types of books in app form. RAZ Kids is a great app but it is mainly for schools. We need some for homeschool students as well as for students whose schools do not subscribe to this service.
Thanks for all your hard work. I cannot imagine what it takes to write a program for these apps. I admire the developers. Thanks
I would love to see a literacy app correlated to DIBELS. Many teachers use this assessment. I think practicing those skills with an app would appeal to my students.
I would love to see more educational apps for older kids that still are working on basic skills. Something more appropriate for middle and high school kids.
I would like to see you continue to develop high interest apps for math that do such a great job of helping children with special needs with their one:one correspondence/focus, while creating a set of virtual manipulatives, as you do with Apples, Sardines, and Acorns. My daughter now says she loves math, when she used to avoid it because it was so hard for her. For the older crowd, I'd love to see a virtual set of scales or other manipulatives used to create an entry level algebra app that could be used as early as 3rd grade. We'd like a follow up to Acorns for practice with division, and I'd like to see something that connects fact families. Thanks for asking for our input! It's what makes you such a great developer.
I would like to see an app written for right-brained learners.
I love your math apps but would love to see some apps related to language, maybe parts of speech, prepositions, or sentence structure...
Continue your great math apps! But my suggestion would be to make an app using word problems with the different operations (+,-,x, /) ; that's where my students tend to need the most math help/support.
Apps that address higher thinking skills for children with learning difficulties. Many apps teach facts and how to solve direct questions but rarely teach students how to use their knowledge in different settings/formats. Even children with special needs can benefit from well designed lessons that teach them how to think.
Thanks for the chance!
Good question! You have math and curling..how about an app that introduces physics?
Apps that we're focused on some of the state standardized tests.
I would love to see you expand out to sight words and other vocabulary type apps. I love the graphics you use and can't wait to see what you come up with for new apps !!
I would like to see a shapes app
I would enjoy seeing you develop an app that focused on Early math development skills so that young kids and kids with special needs learn that numbers represent objects so we can introduce fundamentals to lay the ground work for more complex applied math skills like adding, subtracting, multiplying, etc. Some of the skills I would like to see in an app you develop would include basic skills such as measurement (bigger, smaller, more, less), categorization, sorting, and matching sets of numbers, colors, objects, intro to basic geometry such as shape recognition, also sequencing and pattern recognition, learning to tell time, counting forwards and backwards are all examples of what I would like a new app of yours to include. I think also targeting expressive and receptive language skills within your apps would be highly beneficial for young kids to learn math skills that ask a child to follow simple directions and respond to WH questions Examples of such would be questions like the following: What number comes next? Where is the green triangle? How many apples do you see? Stack the cups from biggest to smallest. Last and certainly not least continuing to use fun and entertaining animals and characters to keep the child engaged and using reinforcers such as stickers, stamps, stars, really exciting graphics with fireworks or exclamation of specific praise would be stellar. I would also like for it to be encouraging so a child doesn't give up due to frustration by using hints, or again praise to keep trying. Can you tell I've tried many preschool type math apps that didn't embody these principles and were not beneficial, fun, or engaging enough for my two autistic boys to continue to have the desire to use? Lol. If any app developer can create an app that taylored to these needs and suggestions it would be you guys at Operatio Apps!!!!
Continued development of educational apps for kids 4-7 years old (pre-k-2 grade) that encourages critical thinking skills. Chess? Strategy? Fun? Thanks!!!
Well of course you need a division app to round out your series ;) But beyond that anything in the special needs arena would be wonderful... there are lots of great suggestions already about elements of language. I would also love to see a Reading Comprehension app, especially one focusing on inferences and predicting.
Great giveaway thanks, my autistic son loves to see things being made on the iPad such as the duple and lego app, he also loves the cookie maker one so ones similar to this would be great perhaps with more words being said out loud for him to repeat!
I would like apps for grammar and reading comprehension.
I would love to see some apps geared toward older children. Another app I would love to see is how to help kids deal with anxiety. I have one who has severe test anxiety and he is in college and a SN as well but no accomodations are given. His worst testing is when its done on computer, and you cannot revisit a question. However overall his testing is horrid. Its improved over the last year but whew...... Its frustrating when they KNOW the material, but freeze up at test time.
I think adding sme apps for older children would be great. There are a lot of apps on the market for toddler, pre-k and very early elementary students, but very few for older kids. I would take your approach and make more fun maths apps for older elementary students and middle school even high school age groups. By the way my almost 5yo is totally fascinated with your Rocket math app - I have to do the maths and tell him the answers then he enters the numbers, so creating a junior version of that - same app but simple addition would also be a great idea !
We love ALL your apps. We would love to see more apps along the lines of Rocket Math - am biased as love all things space related. Just makes math fun!
I would like to see an app developed to help with number recognition, counting, sizes, sequencing, pattern recognition with different games with fun charachters to practice each skill that also increases in difficulty as the child masters it and is ready to move on to the next challenge.
What kind of apps would you like us to develop?
I would love to see more speech apps. Where the pronunciation is said clearly and repetitious way with song so the child will sing along. This helps them remember it. Also more food apps for children who have issues with feeding.
While we love your math apps, it would be so helpful to have a learning app for special needs kids that focuses on learning how to put a sentence together. While there are some apps out there like this, they do not allow the freedom to be able to input any information the user needs. My son is much more motivated when he's able to see things that interest him. So to have an open ended app that allows customization would be awesome. So you could say have a subject button where you would input a picture or words or both and then a verb where you could input your picture, word, or symbol and then of course have it speak the sentence when done. And then as the user advanced you could have the option for adjectives, direct objects, etc. I think if allowed to be able to input whatever is needed would be fantastic and would be a huge hit.
Would love to see apps with grammar & punctuation for sentences so kids can type in a story & the app helps them see where the words go in the right order & punctuation goes. My 9 yr old SN son is having troubles.
How about an app for basic and simple science.
More math apps
I agree with PP, perhaps something science related, maybe astronomy. I think that would be a good addition to your series.
I would love to see some apps for grammar and reading comprehension for 1st-3rd graders. And as a teacher, I'd love the ability to put in a couple more students into an app to track (3 isn't enough :) )
I would like to see more comprehension and literacy apps.
I'd love more preschool apps that are so fun that the kids don't know they are learning: shapes, opposites, colors. Game apps are fun too!
me...me... Please. :-)
I have a 4 yr old son so I'm interested in seeing educational apps that incorporate reading and writing skills in repitions of 3 which I've read is the magic number of times it takes for something to sink in ;0) the apps should have a reward system ( coins or stars or stickers) and a way to report via email the child's progress.... Topics like school, space, making friends, telling the truth, following directions or rules, getting ready for bed, playing team sports would be wonderful. Thank you
I would love to see more Sensory Eating Apps being produced. To introduce the special needs to see and hear about all the different kinds of foods.
I would like to see more fun learning books along the lines of Bobo & Light. There are so many storybook apps for younger kids, that it's nice to have some learning books that are fun too! We also love games similar to stack the states and presidents vs aliens. Thanks!
I would like to see apps created in you manner about seasons, monthes and week of the days app wich will develop learning this sequences.
